Project Highlights

  • To promote digital education and make learning more interactive, SMART TV was distributed in 47 schools of Golaghat in collaboration with District Administration. The students are intrigued by this new way of learning. The interventions will reach more than 6,100 students with technology-based learning.
  • Owing to heavy rainfall in the Assam region, bags and umbrellas were distributed to 300 school students. This helped in improving better attendance in schools while ensuring seamless learning opportunities.
  • Cairn’s Assam CSR team attended three-day long Foothills National Drama festival in Jorhat district. It offered a platform to interact and establish relationships with the community living in the Disputed Area Belt (DAB) areas. Approximately 5,500 community members attended the festival. The Foothills National Drama Festival's committee members also expressed gratitude towards the support and presence of the Cairn team.
  • Close to 100 Community members of Naharbari, Hazarigaon (Assam) celebrated Bhogali Bihu Utsav. The festival marks the end of the harvest season. People exchanged greetings, shared traditional delicacies and enjoyed cultural programs supported by Cairn.
  • We supported the 58th NSUG Annual Sports cum Indigenous Games, 2023 at Guwahati University from November 28-30, 2023, where more than750 Naga athletes from Assam, Nagaland and Manipur participated in the event.
  • Jacquard Handloom Centre was inaugurated at Borchapori, Assam in the presence of Cairn’s senior management team. The intervention was implemented in close collaboration with Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM) and Assam Handloom Department. The centre will evolve into a microenterprise by providing the required skill and an opportunity to augment their livelihood.

Project Highlights

  • 1,020 school bags distributed across 25 schools in Margherita, Hazarigaon, Jorhat, Kharang, Girujan-Tinsukia, Hazarigaon, Sarupathar sub divisional administrations of Golaghat district, in the presence of major stakeholders from the community as well as from Cairn.
  • Cairn supported a cricket tournament organised by the Naharbari Youth Association, Borpathar. A total of 16 teams participated.

Project Highlights

  • Touched the lives of more than 6000 women SHG members through direct livelihoods interventions and Training programs.
  • Resource Mobilized of around 18 Lacs INR through community contribution and partnership with agencies which has benefited more than 600 rural households.
  • Climate resilient technologies and seeds are introduced to rural farmers and of that 346 nos. have adopted Systematic Rice Intensifications with 30-50% high yield production, 106 has vermicomposting, 100 households are reached through Pashu Seva Abhiyan-animal care service etc.
  • Around 500 Households are reached under 5 nos. of Vedanta Nandghars at Jorhat through which ensured the early childhood education, health and hygiene, nutrition and immunization of children and women etc.

Project Highlights

  • Livelihood and Community Mobilization project have been initiated in January 2021 in Jorhat District of Assam covering 25 villages in and around business our operation areas. The project is implemented “Seven Sisters Development Assistance” (SeSTA). The major focused areas/activities under the project includes -

         c.  Livelihood development through skill development and self-help groups
         d.  Village Infrastructure Development

  • Orientation of District and Block ASRLMS Officials on Cairn Vedanta CSR project and tripartite agreement signed for social project implementation. Assistance” (SeSTA). The major focused areas/activities under the project includes -
  • Close to 6,254 community members have been impacted through various training on livelihood opportunities.
  • More than 1000 people have been engaged across various Community mobilization events like – women day celebration, cricket tournament health camps, etc.
  • Under infrastructure intervention - Renovation/Repairing of 5 AWCs (Brown Field Nand-Ghar) have been initiated.

Project Highlights -

    Support to District Adminstration
  • As a first step a community need assessment study was conducted in order to identify the existing issues and gaps in the area.
  • The study was conducted in 12 districts; of which 11 districts were in Assam and 1 district in Arunachal Pradesh. It covers 21005 schools (20845 in Assam and 160 in Arunachal Pradesh), 21000 AWCs in Assam and 270 AWCs in Arunachal and the corresponding villages.
  • Based on the need assessment conducted across Assam and NE States, a detail intervention plan is been developed for conducting CSR activities.
  • In addition to this another volunteering drive was carried out to support communities in Assam impacted due to flood. Cairn employees made voluntary contribution and a matching grant was provided by Cairn Foundation society. “Assam Flood Relief” support cheque of Cairn Oil and Gas, Vedanta Ltd. was handed over to Mr. Gautam Das, Principal Private Secretary to Hon′ble Chief Minister of Assam on 17th January 2020 at his Dispur Secretariat, Guwahati Office.
