About Cairn Foundation

Cairn Oil & Gas, Vedanta, is India’s largest private oil and gas exploration and production company, contributing nearly a quarter of the nation’s domestic hydrocarbon output. Guided by the vision of creating an Aatmanirbhar Bharat, we are committed to achieving our goal of producing 50% of India’s oil and gas requirements while simultaneously transforming communities across our operational areas. Over the last three decades, our operations have expanded across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and now Assam, with a strong focus on responsible people practices, technological innovations, and environmental stewardship.

To drive our social impact agenda, Cairn Foundation, a registered not-for-profit society under the Haryana Registration & Regulation of Societies Act, 2012, serves as the governing body for all CSR initiatives. Its primary objective is to address the development needs of communities around Cairn’s operational areas in India.

Our community development programs, implemented through state and non-state partner agencies, span diverse thematic areas such as child well-being and education, agriculture and animal husbandry, women empowerment, healthcare, provision of drinking water and sanitation facilities, community infrastructure, skill development, and sports. Each initiative is designed to foster sustainable impact and improve the quality of life at the grassroots level.

Anchored in our ESG goals and the core principle of “Transforming Communities”, our efforts are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We remain dedicated to reaching the last mile, empowering lives in the remotest villages of India with opportunity, dignity, and hope. FY’25 marked a year of historic milestones in our community-driven projects, with initiatives built on diverse themes that bring about lasting change.

In the financial year 2024–25 alone, Cairn invested ₹10.25 crore in CSR programs, positively impacting 27.52 lakh people across 18 districts and 433 villages in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Assam.
